Saudi Arabia and Indonesia Boost Halal Tourism Cooperation for Hajj and Umrah Pilgrims
Saudi Arabia and Indonesia have agreed to strengthen tourism cooperation, especially in expanding travel experiences for Hajj and Umrah pilgrims. The agreement was reached during a bilateral meeting between Saudi Tourism Minister Ahmed Al-Khateeb and Indonesian Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana on the sidelines of the 126th Session of the UN Tourism Executive Council in Toledo, Thursday (6/11/2026).
Both countries will boost tourist visits, human resource development, and destination diversification beyond Makkah and Madinah. Saudi Arabia is now developing historical, cultural, natural, and entertainment tourism to enrich the experience of Indonesian pilgrims. Indonesia also proposed establishing an Arabic Language and Hospitality Center at the Lombok Tourism Polytechnic to improve the quality of tourism human resources.
Minister Al-Khateeb highlighted the strong bond between the two countries through faith and culture, while Minister Widiyanti referred to Saudi Arabia as a strategic partner, with the relationship set to deepen in a spirit of mutual respect and benefit.
