Salaam - How can I rekindle interest in career self-improvement?
Assalamu alaikum - I’ve been a software engineer for about 20 years and have worked on many technologies and products. Lately I’ve found my desire to learn and grow has slowed down. With age and so many years of work, I feel stuck. I tell myself I should just keep doing projects with the knowledge I already have instead of chasing every new tech that pops up every few months. When I even think about starting to learn something new or study for a certification my mind and body resist and I get stressed. How do I change this mindset of “I’ve done enough in this field, it should run on its own”? How do I build interest in something I don’t feel like doing anymore? I also feel this might be a sign that I’m no longer interested in my job - I may have exhausted my curiosity here. But I don’t know how to create fresh interest in another field either. Part of me wants to finally enjoy life and pursue hobbies I neglected for years, but I still need to earn and secure my future. If you’ve moved completely into a new area you love and managed to earn from it, or if you’ve rebuilt enthusiasm in the same field, please share your experience. Practical tips or small steps I can try to slowly reawaken motivation would be really helpful. JazakAllah khair.
