Russia and Abkhazia are strengthening their spiritual bond through the values of Islam
Assalamu alaikum, brothers and sisters! Important events took place in Sukhumi that highlighted the shared spiritual heritage of the peoples of Abkhazia, Adygea, and Russia. The forum titled “Heritage for the Future of the Brotherly Peoples of Russia and Abkhazia: Islam, Unity, and Continuity Amid Historical and Modern Challenges” brought together religious leaders, government representatives, and public organizations from both countries for an open dialogue.
Participants talked about how to preserve our common spiritual heritage and strengthen interethnic unity. The main idea was that respect for our shared past and joint efforts are the key to a stable and bright future. Special attention was given to passing traditional values on to the younger generation.
The ideas of the forum, organized by the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Republic of Adygea and Krasnodar Krai together with the Unified Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Abkhazia, supported by the Foundation for the Support of Islamic Culture, Science, and Education, were reflected in an official meeting with the President of Abkhazia, Badra Gumba. The Russian delegation included representatives of religious and state structures, such as Mufti Askarbiy Kardanov and others.
They discussed concrete steps to strengthen interreligious dialogue, the role of Muslims in the development of Abkhazia, and the creation of a Council for Interaction with Religious Organizations. President Badra Gumba noted the importance of the forum in Sukhumi as a sign of the spiritual unity of our brotherly peoples.
Initiatives like this help strengthen humanitarian cooperation between Russia and Abkhazia, showing how shared traditions and spiritual values bring peoples closer together.
