Question about Muslim reactions in a sci-fi setting - would these feel believable?
Assalamu alaykum. I’m writing a sci-fi story where the world has unexplained phenomena - dangerous energies, odd entities, people with unusual abilities. Religion isn’t the main focus, but a few characters are Muslim and I want their responses to feel believable and respectful. I’m not diving into theology, just aiming for plausible behavior. Would the following make sense to Muslim readers? 1. A Muslim character sees these phenomena as part of Allah’s creation (known or unknown), not as deities, and does not worship or revere them. 2. The character works for a scientific or security organization handling these things, viewing it as a duty to protect human life and uphold safety, even when some actions are ethically awkward. 3. When confronting something extremely powerful, the character may feel fear or humbled awe, but doesn’t equate it with God or treat it as divine. 4. Their faith shapes personal ethics - limits, intentions, responsibility - but they don’t constantly sermonize, quote scripture, or interpret every event through religion. 5. The narrative doesn’t imply science replaces God; it shows humans trying to learn about creation with limited understanding. From a Muslim perspective: • Do these responses seem reasonable? • Is anything here clearly off or unrealistic, even as background detail? Any straightforward feedback would be appreciated. Jazakallahu khair for your time.
