Prayers for Those Affected by Overnight Drone and Missile Strikes in Ukraine
As-salamu alaykum. Overnight, large-scale drone and missile strikes hit Ukraine’s capital and other regions, leaving at least two people dead and several injured, including a two-year-old child.
Kyiv’s mayor, Vitali Klitschko, reported a wave of attacks that caused casualties and damage across multiple districts. In Dniprovskiy, debris from a drone struck a residential tower floor - one person was killed and ten were rescued. Another fatality was reported in the Dnipro district after a building caught fire; ten residents were evacuated. Missile fragments and drone debris sparked fires in Pechersky, Darnytsky, and other parts of the city, breaking windows and causing further destruction.
Other regions of Ukraine were also targeted overnight. In the Kharkiv area, officials said rail infrastructure and vehicles were damaged by drone strikes. Zaporizhia authorities declared an airborne alert, and in the south, Odesa region leaders reported attacks that harmed energy and port infrastructure near Izmail.
These attacks come while Ukraine’s president has been seeking longer-range weapons to strengthen his country’s negotiating position. International discussions and meetings between world leaders have been uncertain, and diplomatic efforts remain unsettled.
