Strengthening cooperation with Uzbekistan from the Russian regions plays an important role in consolidating the relationships between Moscow and Tashkent, which are strategic partners and allies. This was stated by the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, in his address to the participants of the second Council of the Regions of Russia and Uzbekistan. The event is taking place in the Moscow region park "Patriot."
The head of state noted that there are more than 40 agreements between Uzbekistan and Russian regions, which help implement joint projects: opening industrial parks and technology centers, developing production and agriculture.
"The agenda of the current council includes issues of cooperation in industry and agriculture, energy and e-commerce, transport and logistics, as well as in culture and education. At the plenary session and sector sessions, there will be an exchange of experiences and the outlining of new forms of joint work," the address said.
The president expressed confidence that the announced initiatives will be implemented and will serve to further strengthen multifaceted cooperation between the countries.
The first meeting of the Council of Regions took place in May last year during the president's visit to the republic; at that time, a package of agreements worth over $5 billion was prepared.
It was also reported earlier that Russia handed over one of the earliest printed copies of the Quran to Uzbekistan. Just a reminder, Islam emerged in the 7th century and had a significant impact on the history, culture, and social life of many peoples. In Arabic, "Islam" means submission to the will of Allah, and today this religion has over a billion followers.
