Papuan Figures See Kang Dedi Mulyadi's Consistency in Preserving West Javanese Culture as Inspiration for Papua
The central board of Analisis Papua Strategis (APS) paid a courtesy visit to Kang Dedi Mulyadi (KDM) at his residence in Lembur Pakuan, Subang, discussing a new paradigm for Papuan development based on cultural values and local wisdom. APS handed over an official invitation to KDM to be the keynote speaker at the APS Annual Conference in Jayapura.
APS Chairman, Laus Rumayom, stressed the need for innovative development approaches that touch cultural roots, not just relying on security and technocracy, but also ethnoscience and local wisdom. KDM's consistency in preserving West Javanese culture is seen as an important inspiration as a model for accelerating development in the six provinces and seven customary territories of Papua.
KDM welcomed the invitation positively and emphasized the importance of understanding indigenous cultures as high-value knowledge. He cited the traditional tree houses of the Korowai people as an example of high-level science born from local wisdom, enabling harmonious living with nature without excessive exploitation. KDM also highlighted the need to strengthen young Papuan human resources to master strategic sectors according to their region's potential.
