NTB People's Coalition for Justice Urges Police to Resolve Alleged Burning of Three Islamic Students

The NTB People's Coalition for Justice held a demonstration at the West Gate of the NTB Regional Police on Thursday (7/30), demanding a thorough investigation into the alleged burning of three Islamic boarding school students in Central Lombok. The crowd called for faster investigation, action against all responsible parties, and legal certainty for the victims. Action coordinators said the case handling has been slow despite public attention. They pointed out a counter-report against the victims' lawyer and claimed the victims' families were pressured to sign a peace letter. The suspects also haven't been detained even though the case has been discussed in the Indonesian House of Representatives as violence against children. The crowd questioned the authorities' commitment to handling a case allegedly involving religious elite figures. After conveying their aspirations, coalition representatives were received by the Head of Sub-directorate II of the Directorate of PPA and PPO at the NTB Regional Police for a dialogue. They directly expressed their demands and requested updates on the case.
