Assalamu alaikum, brothers and sisters. A short overview of important events that might be of interest to our community.
At the city congregational mosque of Yugra there was a meeting between a representative of the Rosgvardiya Administration of Yugra, Mikhail Tremasov, and the deputy mufti of the Interregional Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Yugra, Fidan khazrat Kurbanaev. They discussed areas of cooperation in spiritual, patriotic and ideological education of servicemen and employees. The Rosgvardiya noted that since the beginning of the year they’ve organized more than 100 meetings with religious communities at troop locations - they intend to continue the cooperation, inshallah.
There was also a meeting between the regional Rosgvardiya and the head of the Muslim community, Usman khazrat Pechorin, in Nefteyugansk. They talked about joint work, including prevention of pseudo‑religious and extremist influence.
Event in Pyatigorsk: a discussion platform timed to the Day of Russian Military Glory - the day of the defeat of the Nazi German troops in the Battle for the Caucasus. The forum was organized by the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Stavropol Krai together with the Coordination Center of Muslims of the North Caucasus, supported by the Foundation for the Support of Islamic Culture, Science and Education.
The goal was to honor the memory of the feat of people of different nationalities and faiths during the Great Patriotic War, and to shape patriotic and civic attitudes among young people as part of the broader Russian identity. The round table included the Mufti of Stavropol Muhammad‑Hadji Rahimov, representatives of traditional confessions, officials, scholars, teachers, members of the executive committee of the Coordination Center, students of the madrasa named after Abu Bakr as‑Siddiq and girls from the Quran memorization center under the DUM of Stavropol Krai. In his welcome speech the mufti stressed the importance of preserving historical memory and the inadmissibility of distorting the results of the war. During the discussion they said the victory in the Battle for the Caucasus was possible thanks to the courage and unity of people of different nationalities and faiths, and insisted that this truth be passed on to the young for the sake of peace and concord.
In Novy Urengoy they plan to organize a separate section at the city cemetery in the UKPG‑1 area for burials according to Muslim rites. A draft resolution was published on the official administration website: the plot will take about 5,000 square meters. This is part of work to improve the ritual services in the city. Earlier Novy Urengoy adopted new rules for organizing funerary services, including creating faith‑based and military plots and rules for funeral processions.
A delegation from the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Far East took part in the All‑Russian literary‑patriotic project “Russian Readings.” The delegation from DUM DV included: Deputy Chairman for Interaction with the Armed Forces and Law Enforcement Idris khazrat Kamaliddin, Deputy Mufti for Public Relations Abdujabbbor khazrat Kodirov, and Coordinator for Interaction with the Armed Forces and Law Enforcement Makhina Sultonova. The event, dedicated to historical victories, included public readings of Russian classics and a round table on the role of literature in patriotic education. Participants noted the importance of such initiatives for strengthening national self‑awareness and intercultural dialogue. DUM DV thanked the organizers for the invitation.
At the Azov Madrasa of Islamic Sciences named after Imam Maturidi there was an educational seminar on “Parallel Worlds.” Teachers and students talked about things like the evil eye, envy, spoilage, witchcraft, the influence of jinn, and protection from these with the means of the Quran and Sunnah: reading the Quran, namaz, dhikr, dua and other practices to strengthen faith. Participants asked questions, shared observations and received useful clarifications. At the end the organizers thanked the lecturer and everyone present, noting that such meetings are important for correct religious understanding.
Ahead of National Unity Day, as part of the “Week of Interreligious Dialogue,” the Assistant Head of the Federal Penitentiary Service for the Republic of Adygea for work with believers and the chair of the Interreligious Working Group, hieromonk Evseviy (Arkhangelsky), together with Deputy Mufti Imam Asfar Hazretovich Myss, held a conversation with inmates of correctional facility FKU IK‑2, khutor Novy Sad. They talked about the role of religious organizations, basics of doctrines, respect for representatives of different confessions, ways to avoid radicalization and the importance of responsibility. At the end a quiz on religious literacy was held for the inmates, organized by the colony’s spiritual father, priest Shio Movsesyan. The goal is to strengthen tolerance and inter‑confessional harmony.
The Mufti of Dagestan, Sheikh Ahmad Afandi, was visited by a group of people from Dagestan living in Turkey - descendants of families who left in the early 20th century. They discussed preserving cultural and religious ties with their homeland, continuity of traditions, the role of spiritual education and supporting compatriots abroad. The mufti welcomed the guests warmly, stressing the importance of supporting historical and family ties.
Heads of special services of CIS countries will discuss cooperation in the fight against terrorism and countering the rehabilitation of Nazism at the 57th meeting of the Council of Heads of Security and Special Services (SORB) of the CIS, which will take place on October 16 in Samarkand (Uzbekistan). The agenda will focus on improving coordination in the fight against terrorism and religious extremism, exchanging experience to prevent radicalization, discussing development of an international database to counter terrorism, and summarizing results of personnel training and research work this year.
The President of Russia approved the Concept of State Migration Policy for 2026–2030. The document defines goals, principles, tasks and directions for implementing migration policy, taking into account experience in regulating entry and stay of foreigners, issues of temporary asylum and acquisition of citizenship, as well as modern national and global migration challenges.
Talks were held in the Kremlin between Vladimir Putin and the interim President of Syria, Ahmad al‑Sharaa. The Russian side noted long diplomatic ties and readiness to further develop cooperation. Al‑Sharaa visited Russia for the first time since last year’s events; the sides discussed restoring and rebooting complexes of bilateral relations.
In Turkey a presidential decree came into force simplifying employment for citizens of Turkic states (Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan). Under the new rules they will be able to work in state and private organizations, except for military and security structures; they will need a residence permit in Turkey, proof of education and no legal problems in their home country. Those granted permission will be required to register with professional associations and work on an equal basis with Turkish colleagues, but without political rights within those associations.
Pakistan and Afghanistan agreed to a temporary ceasefire for 48 hours by mutual consent to try to find a positive solution through dialogue. The truce came into force at 16:00 Moscow time, and both sides stated their intention to make sincere efforts to negotiate.
A small reminder of the origins: Islam arose in the 7th century and had a deep influence on the history, culture and social life of many peoples. In Arabic “Islam” means submission to the will of Allah. Today the religion has more than a billion followers.
