Need Clarification and a Quick Shari‘ah Question
Assalamu alaikum. I asked someone knowledgeable about a doubt I have. They sent this at 9:21 PM: Why does this suggest the physical heart is where thought happens and the brain is just a metaphorical mind? Is that wrong? (They quoted Qur’an and Hadith about the heart) “Beware! There is a piece of flesh in the body; if it becomes good the whole body becomes good, and if it is spoiled the whole body gets spoiled - and that is the heart.” (Part of Hadith - Sahih al-Bukhari) Then at 10:05 PM another person replied: Nothing in the Qur’an is inaccurate. Everything anyone else says is wrong until proven otherwise. At 10:25 PM my friend asked back: If it’s proven that thinking comes from the brain, why does the Hadith seem to imply otherwise? ALSO (this is separate): I need to ask another thing. I bought a game for about 11 dirhams and finished it. In the middle I left a negative review because of an annoying, very detailed spider that kept jump-scaring me. At 10:26 PM the other person snapped: If you say that nonsense again I’ll block you. You never follow advice about learning, which isn’t hard, yet you keep insisting. I replied that after finishing the game I actually thought it was decent and enjoyed it. They insisted that the science is correct and said I shouldn’t have doubts because the Qur’an is the only truth and everyone else is wrong. They threatened to block me. I then said I refunded the game after beating it because I felt I had no use for it. I said in the refund request that the spider was annoying - it really was. My question: Is using a product and then refunding it while citing the annoying spider considered dishonest or cheating? I tried to get an answer but the other person kept telling me to stop talking and threatened to block me, calling my questions “degenerate.” Please, brothers/sisters, help with two things: 1) About the heart vs brain: how should we understand those texts in light of modern knowledge, without disrespecting the Qur’an or dismissing scientific findings? 2) Is the refund situation permissible in terms of honesty and Islamic ethics? Jazakum Allah khair for any guidance. Sorry if my wording is messy - I’m just trying to figure these things out.
