In the city of Volzhsky the first all‑Russian interreligious forum with international participation opened: “Islam as a factor of stability and defense of the Motherland.” The forum was organized by the Spiritual Assembly of Muslims of Russia and the Central Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Volgograd Region with the support of the Fund for the Support of Islamic Culture, Science and Education. Representatives of government bodies, religious associations, the academic community and civic organizations from more than twenty countries are taking part. A large DSMR delegation led by Mufti Albier hazrat Krganov is also present.
The focus is on the importance of Islamic values for strengthening national unity, peace and concord, the contribution of religious institutions to spiritual security and the patriotic upbringing of youth. They also plan to discuss international experience in interfaith cooperation. The forum is expected to become one of the key platforms this year for dialogue between religion, science and the state.
In Saratov Region there was a ceremonial event marking the 125th anniversary of the historic mosque in the village of Osinov Gay, Ershovsky District. The event was attended by the Mufti of Saratov Region Rasim‑hazrat Kuzyakhmetov, members of the Presidium of DUMSO, imams and worshippers from various towns and districts. After reciting Quranic ayahs the mufti reminded everyone of the importance of the mosque in a Muslim’s life - it’s the House of Allah, where communal prayers happen, where educational meetings and classes take place.
Rasim‑hazrat noted that the mosque went through hard times, but the villagers managed to revive its work. He made dua for the imams, muazzins and worshippers, asking the Almighty for forgiveness and mercy. The mufti urged residents and those who grew up in Osinov Gay to take responsibility for preserving the mosque and to participate in the planned reconstruction scheduled for spring 2026.
For Father’s Day the Yelabuga muhtasibate, together with the Batyr‑Fitness sports complex, organized a volleyball tournament. Teams from regional schools and lyceums played in the competition. The special thing about the tournament was that fathers and children played shoulder to shoulder on the same teams. As Imam‑Muhtasib Halim hazrat Shamsutdinov said, the goal isn’t just sport but strengthening family ties and mutual understanding between generations.
A group of respected hazrats traveled to districts of Tatarstan with educational meetings called “Gıylem mäclesläre” - lectures and sermons on morality, family, child‑rearing and following religious obligations. They visited Kukmor, Tyulachinsky and Sabinsky districts, speaking at Houses of Culture and drawing people of different ages.
The Muslim community of Zabaykalsky Krai collected and handed over a Niva vehicle for the needs of servicemen at their request. The car was purchased with donations from believers and will be used by service members and religious representatives working in the zone. Deputy Mufti Abdulvasi hazrat Arynov emphasized that helping the front is a common civic duty.
The Mufti of the Far East Ahmad hazrat Garifullin took part in a ceremonial meeting on the occasion of the 87th anniversary of Khabarovsk Krai. At the event the governor summed up the year and noted development priorities, including support for defenders of the Fatherland and traditional family values. Mothers of large families and family heroes were awarded.
The mufti’s advisor for public relations reported that a doctor from Dagestan is providing medical assistance to fighters in one of the hospitals in Luhansk. There’s also a collection of medicines for the wounded underway, and the real needs are being checked before sending supplies.
At the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Chechen Republic there was a working meeting between Mufti Salah‑Hadji Mezhiyev and the spiritual leader from Burkina Faso, Sheikh Moaz Wedraogo. They discussed cooperation between Muslim communities, the role of traditional Islam and Sufism, strengthening spiritual and moral values and developing partnerships.
In Kemerovo the two‑day course “Basics of Psychological Literacy for Imams” finished at the Munira mosque. The program for religious leaders provided practical tools to support worshippers in difficult life situations. Organizers were the Association for Psychological Assistance to Muslims and the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kuzbass. Participants noted that the modern imam is not only a guide in faith but also a helper on psychological issues.
In Nizhny Novgorod Region from October 27 to 29 the 18th All‑Russian scientific‑practical conference “Galimzhan Barudi Readings” will take place on the theme “Islamic education: traditions and new development models.” Islamic educational institutions and researchers will participate.
In the Moscow region, in Shchyolkovo, the final of the 14th mini‑football tournament among Muslim communities of Moscow Region was held. The tournament was timed to the 80th anniversary of Victory and the Year of the Defender of the Fatherland. Six teams met in the final; Mufti Rushan Abbyasov wished an honest and fraternal contest.
In Baku on October 22–23 an international symposium “Modern models of religious education: spiritual values and global challenges” will be held with experts from various countries. The goal is to discuss the current state of religious education and exchange experiences.
International summary: in the Gaza Strip over the past day attacks have killed dozens of civilians and many were wounded; the situation remains severe, humanitarian organizations report destruction and interruptions to water and electricity.
External economy: Afghanistan is negotiating to connect to the Mir payment system to simplify trade settlements and for Russian tourists; experts note possible infrastructure problems and sanction‑related risks.
Quick faith note: Islam appeared in the 7th century; the word “Islam” in Arabic means submission to the will of Allah. Today the religion has more than a billion followers.
