Many American Jews Believe Israel Has Committed Serious Violations in Gaza, Survey Shows
As-salamu alaykum, dear friends. A recent survey reveals that a majority of American Jews feel Israel has been involved in serious violations of human rights in Gaza, with over a third believing actions amount to genocide. The findings come after the tragic events that started with the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023, which led to a devastating conflict. The survey included 815 Jewish Americans, where 61% said Israel committed war crimes, and 39% saw it as genocide. Most were also critical of Israeli leadership, with 68% unsatisfied with Prime Minister Netanyahu's role. Since the attack, nearly 1,200 Israelis lost their lives, and around 250 were taken hostage. On the Palestinian side, over 67,000 civilians in Gaza have been killed. Support for Israel among American voters has dropped significantly, while sympathy for Palestinians has grown. Despite these changes in public opinion, Israel still has broad political support in the US government, even though more voices are expressing concerns about Israeli policies and advocating for Palestinian rights. Recently, a peace plan was introduced aiming to end the conflict and secure the release of hostages. However, challenges remain, especially regarding the disarmament of Hamas. Experts predict that this conflict could lead to changes in Israel's leadership, as some government members consider the ongoing situation a setback. Many Israelis hope for new leadership to improve their country's image globally, especially amid widespread protests in Europe against Israeli actions. May Allah grant peace and justice to all affected and guide leaders towards mercy and reconciliation.
