Lowering the Gaze: A Path to Chastity and Purity

Peace be upon you and God's mercy and blessings. Through the noble verses in Surah An-Nur (verses 30-31), God Almighty guides us to lower our gaze and guard our private parts, explaining that in that is purity and an increase in faith. Believing men and women are asked to exercise modesty and chastity in their gaze and behavior. And some might wonder: can these instructions be considered a call for compatibility in marital relationships? In other words, if we desire a modest, covered wife, isn't it also our duty to be those who adhere to lowering our gaze from non-mahrams? And this leads us to think about the necessity of staying away from what it's forbidden to look at, like inappropriate content on social media, to protect our hearts and our conduct. O Allah, grant us chastity and purity in all our affairs.
