Lamongan Hajj Pilgrims Increase Significantly, Five Groups Already Dispatched
The Lamongan Regency Government dispatched five flight groups (kloter) of prospective Hajj pilgrims for the year 2026 on Wednesday, April 29. The departure of groups 30 and 31 was directly seen off by Lamongan Regent Yuhronur Efendi (Mr. Yes) at the Lokatantra Pendopo. The regent said that today is a moment long awaited by the pilgrims, with the hope that the entire process goes smoothly.
Abdul Ghofur, Head of the Ministry of Religious Affairs Office in Lamongan Regency, reported that the total number of Hajj pilgrims this year is 2,758 people, consisting of 1,247 men and 1,511 women, divided into eight groups (30 to 37). The departure of five groups took place on that day, with two groups scheduled for Thursday and one final group on Friday.
This year's Hajj organization carries the tagline 'Elderly-Friendly Hajj, Disability-Friendly Hajj, and Women-Friendly Hajj' with the application of the murur and tanazul schemes for the convenience of pilgrims, especially vulnerable groups. In addition, the government prepared Hajj officers including PPIH, TKHK, PHD, and PIH KBIHU to support services. The regent also presented awards to the oldest pilgrim, Mujiono bin Purwo (90 years old), and the youngest, Najwa Amelia binti Nur Huda (17 years old).
