KPK Seizes USD1 Million Suspected for Influencing Hajj Oversight Committee
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) stated it has seized USD1 million in cash, which is suspected to have been intended for use by former Religious Affairs Minister Yaqut Cholil Qoumas to influence the House of Representatives' Special Committee (Pansus) on Hajj. The money was entrusted to an intermediary identified by the initials ZA. However, according to KPK's Acting Director of Investigations, Achmad Taufik Husein, the funds had not yet been handed over to any committee members.
The KPK has named four suspects in this case: former Religious Affairs Minister Yaqut Cholil Qoumas, his former special staff member Ishfah Abidal Aziz, Operational Director of PT Makassar Toraja Ismail Adham, and Commissioner of PT Raudah Eksati Utama Asrul Azis Taba. Currently, only Yaqut and Ishfah are in custody.
