Kiai Figure in Pati Detained as Suspect in Alleged Sexual Abuse of Female Students

A kiai figure who runs an Islamic boarding school in Pati Regency, Central Java, has officially been named a suspect in a case of alleged sexual abuse. It is suspected that more than 50 female students have been victims of lewd acts that have been ongoing since 2024. Tlogowungu Police Chief, AKP Mujahid, emphasized that investigators from the Pati Police Criminal Investigation Unit are delving deeper into the case to gather additional evidence. The incident has sparked tension in the community, with residents surrounding the Islamic boarding school in Tlogosari Village on Saturday (5/2/2026). Ahmad Nawawi, one of the residents, stated that this issue has been heard of for a long time, but the community felt intimidated to report it. The crowd urged the police to immediately detain the suspect.
