Khozinudin Is Furious, 74 Kg of Gold at Febrie's House Linked to Islamic Preaching Deemed an Insult
Attorney Ahmad Khozinudin expressed anger over claims linking the 74 kg of gold and hundreds of billions of rupiah seized from the house of former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes Febrie Adriansyah in Sentul, Bogor, to operational funds for an Islamic preaching and education foundation. He considers the claim an insult to Islamic teachings. "This is clearly an insult to the noble teachings of Islamic preaching," he said, as quoted on Monday (20/7).
Khozinudin questioned which Islamic preaching foundation would hoard that much gold while so many outside need help, like orphans, the poor, and Islamic boarding schools. He stressed that Islam only accepts lawful wealth for charity, not proceeds from corruption. "Islam is a great religion. It doesn’t accept Robinhood-style teachings. Islam only accepts lawful wealth for charity," he asserted.
Don Ritto's attorney, Handika Honggowongso, previously stated that the assets belong to a foundation, not Febrie Adriansyah. Khozinudin sees this as an attempt at money laundering and whitewashing the sin of corruption by dragging the name of Islamic preaching. "Corruption in Islam is a ta'zir category crime that can be punishable by death. The money isn't meant to be used for Islamic preaching," he said.
