Jusuf Kalla's Statement Deemed Controversial, Reported to Metro Jaya Regional Police
Former Vice President Jusuf Kalla's statement during a lecture at Gadjah Mada University in Yogyakarta has drawn criticism. Jerry Massie, Director of Politic and Public Policy Studies (P3S), considers the statement controversial and potentially damaging to interfaith harmony and the values of diversity. Organizations like GAMKI and Pemuda Katolik have reported the matter to the Metro Jaya Regional Police, citing an alleged criminal act of religious blasphemy.
Jusuf Kalla's spokesperson, Husain Abdullah, has provided clarification. According to him, the circulating video is an excerpt of the lecture. Husain asserted that what JK conveyed was his experience and lessons in resolving conflicts, specifically in Poso and Ambon, not his personal opinion.
