Jember's Cinta Bergema Scholarship Budget for 2026 Increases, Gus Fawait Prepares Rp 59 Billion for 4,200 Students
The Jember Regency government has allocated Rp 59 billion from the regional budget for the 2026 Cinta Bergema Scholarship program. Jember Regent Muhammad Fawait stressed that education is a long-term investment to break the poverty chain. This program targets 4,200 students and prospective students to continue their studies at various partner universities across Indonesia. Recipients will get help with tuition fee payments, with special attention for underprivileged families, Islamic boarding school students, and people with disabilities who also receive living allowances until they graduate.
This program is a continuation from the previous year, which already supported around 7,000 students. For 2025 scholarship recipients who want to extend, they just need to re-register with simpler administrative requirements and don’t have to retake any exams. The Jember government is also exploring opportunities for overseas scholarship cooperation with top universities like Al-Azhar University in Egypt and several universities in China, though it's still held up by regulations.
Additionally, the Regent reminded schools to make sure the School Environment Introduction Period (MPLS) is free from illegal levies, so it doesn’t burden parents.
