It pains me to say this, but Muslim lives seem undervalued
As-salamu alaykum. I saw a post from a Western politician about violence in another country, saying they won’t stand by while Christians are being killed and promising to act. Whether you agree with him or not, what struck me was how sure and direct he sounded - he made it clear who he was standing up for. Then I look at us, the Muslim world. When our brothers and sisters are killed, displaced, or humiliated, who speaks up with that same conviction? Who acts with that urgency? Our leaders issue statements. Our groups hold meetings and conferences. But the blood of Muslims continues to flow, and the global response is weak. This isn’t just about politics. It’s about power and priorities. It shows what happens when someone believes defending their people is worth mobilizing resources and influence. Meanwhile, many countries and institutions that claim to represent Muslims can’t unite on a cause unless there’s political benefit. Islam never taught passivity. We are meant to be people of strength, justice, and compassion. Yet we often watch from the sidelines while others decide our worth. It feels like we’ve lost courage. I’m not calling for conflict - I want dignity. I want leaders who treat Muslim lives with the same urgency others expect for theirs. Silence is not always diplomacy; sometimes it reads as weakness. Maybe I’m just exhausted. But I pray someone in authority will speak for Muslims with real courage and clarity, for the sake of truth and justice, not for political gain.
