Is it haram to cheat in online exams?

Assalamu alaikum, I need some advice. I'm studying engineering, and companies visit our college for placements. They start with an online test, then interviews. These online tests are way harder than the interviews, probably because the HR folks don't know the technical stuff or they expect everyone to cheat. Since almost everyone cheats, honest guys like me rarely get selected. The interview is easier, they actually test your knowledge face-to-face. But companies try to prevent cheating with live video proctoring and making us tick a box promising no cheating. Still, cheating is super easy. When it was internship season, I didn't cheat because I didn't want to begin my career with a sin. I ended up not getting a single interview-I could never pass the online tests. My friends all cheated on the tests but cleared the interviews honestly. I tried not to give in to peer pressure, but I lost every opportunity. Now placement season is here again, and I'm confused: is staying honest just foolish when the system is broken? Is it actually sinful, or am I just trying to act like a hero? I might end up jobless. Should I just cheat to not miss these big chances? What should I do? JazakAllah khair.
