Iran Threatens to Strike Israel If Aggression in Lebanon Continues
Iran has warned it will retaliate if the Israeli military keeps up its operations in southern Lebanon. This warning comes even though the US and Iran are scheduled to sign a peace deal on Friday (June 19, 2026) in Geneva, Switzerland.
The Khatam Al Anbiya military headquarters accused Israel of violating the ceasefire 84 times in the past two days. "If Israeli forces don't stop the aggression in southern Lebanon, they'll face a tough response from Iran's armed forces," according to an official statement quoted by ISNA news agency.
Iranian officials stressed that Israel must halt attacks on all fronts, especially in Lebanon, in line with the US-Iran peace memorandum. But indications from the Israeli side that military operations will continue raise doubts about the prospects for peace.
Since March 2, Israeli attacks have killed over 3,000 people and displaced a million more. Israel's ground operation has also pushed more than 10 km into southern Lebanon.
