Interfaith Community in Jombang Declares Support for NU Congress, Emphasizes Spirit of Tolerance
People of different faiths in Jombang Regency, who are part of the Jombang Community Communication Forum (FKMJ), have declared their support for the 35th Congress of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) at the Bahrul Ulum Islamic Boarding School in Tambakberas, Jombang, on August 27–31, 2026. The declaration took place at the Tri Dharma Hong Liong Kiong Place of Worship in Jombang.
Before the declaration, FKMJ members handed out Indonesian flags to the public. FKMJ Chairman H. Su’udi affirmed their joint commitment to making this national agenda a success. "Especially since this congress is a global event, not just Indonesia's," he said on Friday (8/7).
Su’udi said Jombang is known as the City of Santri and the City of Tolerance, so this momentum should strengthen brotherhood and harmony. FKMJ Secretary Didik Tondo Susilo explained that this forum brings together various religions and beliefs.
Didik added that their support is shown by maintaining security and comfort for the congress participants. "First, by creating a conducive situation. Second, by providing opportunity and comfort," he concluded.
