Heads-up about some popular Islamic apps

Assalamu alaikum, everyone. Just wanted to share something that’s been on my mind. I’m into tech and try to keep my phone updated, alhamdulillah, so I’ve noticed some stuff about certain apps many of us use-like Muslim Pro and Prayer Times. Honestly, if you look them up, you’ll find they’ve sold user data to some really questionable companies in the past. They say 'we care about your privacy,' but don’t take that at face value. It’s a hassle, but try to at least skim the privacy policy summary before installing any big app. Yeah, they’ve apologized, and forgiving is good, but trusting them again with your data after those scandals? That’s just not smart. Instead, you could get prayer times from your local masjid’s website-some even let you print schedules-or ask a trusted brother or sister about the qibla direction according to your madhab, whether you follow Shafi, Hanafi, Maliki, or Hanbali. Even better, why not learn the fiqh of prayer yourself so you can figure out the times and qibla on your own? There are free resources online if you can’t reach a scholar, and they’ve been a big help for me even on a tight budget. Just remember, Allah says: 'So ask the people of knowledge if you do not know' (Surah An-Nahl, 16:43).
