Grateful for My Muslim Brothers and Sisters
Assalamu alaykum! I get really happy whenever I meet another Muslim, whether brother or sister. Why? Because I see you as family. Also, there are practical comforts that come with that. A Muslim sister usually respects my boundaries more than a non‑Muslim woman might - I don’t feel judged or pressured when I’m not looking to be friends. A Muslim brother gives me that sense of brotherhood and support. There are many admirable traits among our people. Even if a Muslim woman isn’t very educated or sometimes lacks polish, her caring, loyalty and humility make her stand out. Even if a Muslim man isn’t the most easygoing or lacks some understanding, his care, loyalty and modesty still make him far better than many others. Of course there are faults among us, and some do wrong - but compared to what you see elsewhere, the overall picture is much better. And before anyone points fingers at sisters or brothers as selfish or disloyal, consider how many people outside our community behave irresponsibly - abandoning women, creating messes with no regard for family, or treating helping one’s family like a shameful thing. I truly feel blessed to have you all. Life would be much harder and lonelier without my Muslim brothers and sisters. May Allah bless you all 🤲
