Four-day international maritime expo begins in Karachi - Bismillah
Salam - The four-day Pakistan International Maritime Expo and Conference (PIMEC) 2025 opened in Karachi on Monday, with more than 133 delegates from 44 countries attending as Pakistan seeks to draw foreign investment into its maritime sector.
The event’s second edition runs from Nov. 3 to 6 and includes 178 exhibitors - 28 international firms and about 150 local organizations - plus delegates from Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and the Americas.
Organizers say the programme will include business-to-business and business-to-government meetings, MoU signings, and an International Maritime Conference themed “Harnessing Blue Economy Potential for Sustainable Development.”
Pakistan Navy Vice Admiral Muhammad Faisal Abbasi said PIMEC is part of advancing the country’s blue economy roadmap. Officials and representatives from countries such as the UK, Italy, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Türkiye, Egypt, China and Australia are among those attending.
State media reported that these high-level discussions between foreign delegates, senior government officials and maritime stakeholders aim to encourage cooperation and build partnerships across ports, shipping, fisheries and coastal development.
According to the organisers, PIMEC will give public and private maritime sectors a chance to showcase products and form business ties. The expo seeks to bring together people from hydrocarbon extraction, coastal development, ports and infrastructure, fisheries, marine tourism, offshore renewable energy, aquaculture, seabed mining, marine biotechnology and other related fields to responsibly explore the ocean’s resources.
May Allah make this a means of beneficial cooperation and sustainable development.
