Former Constitutional Court Justice Anwar Usman Asserts Decision 90 is Not a Special Door for Gibran

BANDA ACEH – Former Constitutional Court Justice Anwar Usman asserted that Constitutional Court (MK) Decision Number 90/PUU-XXI/2023 is not a special "door" for his nephew, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, to become vice president. This statement was delivered following a farewell ceremony at the MK Building in Jakarta on Monday (13/4/2026). According to him, there is a public misconception linking the decision exclusively to Gibran. Anwar stated that the decision was actually intended to provide space for all young people in Indonesia. "No, no, no, that's not a door for Gibran. It's for all young people. Well, that's the misconception," he emphasized to reporters. He added that the ruling was made based on a conviction in truth and justice, which he considered a mandate. He also denied any conflict of interest, referring to a statement by Prof. Arief Hidayat in Akbar Faizal's podcast. Anwar expressed relief because his dignity and honor have been restored through the decision of the Jakarta State Administrative Court (PTUN).
