For anyone with questions or doubts about Jesus (ʿĪsā), peace be upon him
As-salāmu ʿalaykum. I’m not writing to argue or insult anyone’s beliefs. This is for sincere people who want to learn about who Jesus was by looking at scripture itself, not feelings, culture, or passed-down ideas. When we compare the Bible and the Qur’an carefully, a clear and consistent picture emerges about Jesus’ role. 1. Jesus called people to worship One God Jesus taught pure monotheism: “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is One.” (Mark 12:29). He didn’t tell people to worship him; he repeated the message of Moses and the other prophets. The Qur’an likewise records him saying people should worship Allah (Qur’an 5:72). 2. Jesus lived with human needs The Bible shows Jesus eating and becoming tired: “He took it and ate it in their presence.” (Luke 24:42–43); “Jesus, tired as he was from the journey, sat down by the well.” (John 4:6). Eating and tiredness are human attributes; God does not possess them. The Qur’an makes the same point: the Messiah was a messenger and they both ate food (Qur’an 5:75). 3. Jesus prayed and submitted to God “He fell with his face to the ground and prayed.” (Matthew 26:39). Prayer is worship, and the one who prays submits to God, not the other way around. 4. Jesus said God was greater than him “The Father is greater than I.” (John 14:28). If God is absolute oneness, He cannot be both greater and not greater than Himself. 5. Jesus did not know the Hour “No one knows that day or hour… not even the Son.” (Mark 13:32). Omniscience belongs to God; lacking knowledge of the Hour shows a human limitation. 6. Jesus never said, “Worship me” or “I am God” There’s no clear passage where Jesus says, “I am God, worship me.” The Qur’an explains that a human given scripture and prophethood would not tell people to worship him instead of Allah (Qur’an 3:79). 7. Jesus said he was sent by God “The only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.” (John 17:3). Someone who is sent is distinct from the one who sends. 8. The Qur’an defines Jesus’ role clearly “Indeed, I am the servant of Allah. He has given me the Scripture and made me a prophet.” (Qur’an 19:30). 9. A miraculous birth doesn’t mean divinity Jesus was born miraculously without a father, but Adam was created without parents. “The example of Jesus before Allah is like that of Adam.” (Qur’an 3:59). Miracles show Allah’s power, not that the person is divine. Conclusion If we read scripture honestly and without preconceived ideas, the consistent conclusion is: Jesus (peace be upon him) was a servant of Allah, a prophet, and a teacher calling people to worship One God alone. This view does not belittle Jesus; it honors him as he honored his Lord. May Allah guide us all to the truth. Peace and blessings upon him.
