Food Minister Hands Over BPJS Employment Cards, 2.1 Million Quran Teachers Encouraged to Be Protected
BPJS Employment is teaming up with BKPRMI to expand social security protection for informal workers in mosque settings. The agreement was signed in Central Jakarta, witnessed by Food Minister Zulkifli Hasan, who symbolically handed over membership cards to Quran teachers. Agung Nugroho, Director of Membership at BPJS Employment, said this move aims to protect Quran teachers, preachers, and mosque administrators from work-related risks.
BKPRMI Chairman Nanang Mubarok targets coverage for 2.1 million Quran teachers under LPPTKA-BKPRMI's umbrella. Through Government Regulation No. 50, premiums for informal workers get a 50% discount, down to Rp8,400 per month, covering work accident and death benefits. As of May 2026, BPJS Employment has paid out Rp799.1 billion in benefits for 78,360 informal worker cases.
Dadang Komarudin, head of BPJS Employment's Jember branch, urged people to register workers around them with a premium of Rp16,800 per month for accident and death coverage, plus an option to add Rp20,000 in contributions for old-age savings. This collaboration is expected to broaden sustainable protection for vulnerable workers.
