Fire Spreads Further, Bromo Tourism Shut Down Completely
The fire in the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park (TNBTS) area is spreading even more, burning over 179.2 hectares and sweeping through the savanna, heading towards B-29 Hill in Lumajang. As a result, all Bromo tourist entry points are totally closed off.
This closure is based on a letter from TNBTS head Rudijanta Tjahja Nugraha, in effect from Saturday, August 8, 2026, at 10:00 PM WIB until an unspecified later date. The closed entry points include Cemorolawang (Probolinggo), Wonokitri (Pasuruan), Jemplang and Coban Trisula (Malang), and Senduro (Lumajang).
Visitors who've already bought tickets online for the closure period can apply for a reschedule or refund through the TNBTS online booking app. The public, visitors, and tourism service providers are urged not to engage in any tourism activities and to protect the area from fire by being careful with the use of fire.
