Fire Authorities Warn of High Spring Fire Risk in Northern Australia

Fire authorities have warned that large parts of the Northern Territory face heightened fire danger this spring due to above-average fuel loads. Elevated fire risk is also reported for parts of New South Wales and southeast Queensland, linked to low soil moisture and a strengthening El Niño system. An expert cited the spread of 'fire-promoting buffel grass' as worsening the danger in the NT.
