Finally found a way to explain to people why burning old Qur'an copies was actually the smartest move by Uthman RA
Salam everyone! So for the longest time, whenever my non-Muslim friends or colleagues brought up the whole thing about Uthman burning the Qur'an manuscripts, I'd freeze up a bit. I knew deep down it wasn't how critics try to paint it, but I just couldn't explain it properly. Like, I'd stumble over my words and leave them more confused maybe.
Alhamdulillah, I recently came across a video that lays it all out so clearly. It talks about how Uthman RA, with the help of Zaid bin Thabit and the Huffadh, didn't actually destroy the Qur'an - he basically standardized it and got rid of variant copies that could cause confusion. Honestly, looking back, it was the wisest decision to preserve the Qur'an exactly as it was revealed.
The way the video explained it actually changed my whole perspective. Now I feel way more confident talking about it. So if you ever get asked this question, definitely check out this link: [https://youtu.be/KQi_-OyhioI?s
