Erling Haaland, Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappe continue their race to be Europe's top scorer - salaam
Salaam - it was another weekend where the big three of European football did what they do best: Erling Haaland, Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappe all helped their teams to wins and kept piling up goals.
These strikers have been on fire for Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid this season and are leading the scoring charts in England, Germany and Spain. Not surprising - each of them has taken home the European Golden Boot in recent seasons.
Haaland, the 2022–23 winner, has been almost unstoppable, scoring 11 goals in eight matches and pushing Pep Guardiola’s side up the table. It’s notable he’d reached double figures so early in previous seasons too - the Norwegian clearly lives to score. Guardiola even said after City’s 2-0 win over Everton (Haaland with both goals) that other players need to “step up” so the team isn’t carrying all the scoring burden on one man.
Meanwhile Kane, who won the Golden Boot in 2023–24, opened the scoring in Bayern’s 2-1 win over Dortmund - his 400th club goal - keeping up an incredible run (12 goals in seven games). Bayern sit comfortably at the top and his manager praised him for the confidence and consistency he brings.
And in La Liga, Mbappe keeps delivering for Real Madrid. His goal in a 1-0 win over nine-man Getafe put Real back on top of the table. He’s scored 10 in nine matches and looks set for another big season, with his coach calling him decisive and influential across matches.
With these three in such form, the battle for this season’s Golden Boot promises to be exciting. May the best player succeed, and may we enjoy some great, halal sporting entertainment along the way.
