Eight Monks Killed by Car in Thailand, Driver Was an 11-Year-Old Boy
Eight monks died after being hit by a pickup truck in Mukdahan Province, northeastern Thailand, on Thursday (2/7) at 11 a.m. The car was driven by an 11-year-old boy who took his father's vehicle without permission.
A group of 34 monks was walking along the roadside on a pilgrimage from Mukdahan to Ubon Ratchathani when the incident happened. Five monks died at the scene, three others passed away on the way to the hospital. Seven monks were seriously injured, and 20 others suffered minor injuries.
Police officers at the scene immediately coordinated with hospitals and rescue teams to handle the victims. The investigation into this accident is still ongoing.
