East Java and Morocco Explore Wide-ranging Partnership, from Trade to Sister Province Opportunities
East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa welcomed a visit from Moroccan Ambassador Redouane Houssaini in Surabaya on Monday (3/8). The meeting discussed cooperation in trade, investment, manufacturing, agriculture, fisheries, education, cultural exchange, and exploring a sister province arrangement.
Khofifah highlighted East Java's potential as a national economic hub and pointed to the long history of Indonesia-Morocco friendship, including the scholarly legacy of Al-Qarawiyyin University, founded in 859 AD.
Ambassador Houssaini viewed East Java as promising for a long-term partnership and opened up scholarship opportunities. Both sides will also follow up on cooperation through an MoU. During the meeting, the ambassador offered condolences for the KMP Mutiara Santosa II disaster.
