Two women with the initials Nl and MT have been secured and are undergoing intensive questioning at the Lebak Police Station.
Chronology of the incident started when Nl, the owner of a salon, suspected MT of taking her belongings. As she did not get a confession, Nl asked MT to swear an oath by stepping on the Quran. This recorded action spread widely on social media since Wednesday (4/8/2026), triggering public response. The Lebak Police Chief, AKBP Herfio Zaki, stated the arrest was thanks to assistance from the public and officers, while asking the public to remain calm and entrust the matter to the legal process.
A local religious figure, H. Idin, expressed shock and encouraged strengthening religious guidance to prevent similar incidents from recurring.
