Breaking 3 MURI Records, Surabaya Scouts Show Burning Spirit and Noble Values
The Surabaya Scout Movement successfully broke three records of the Indonesian Record Museum (MURI) in one big event, Saturday (6/20). The three records are Washing Parents' Feet with 130,000 participants, Garuda Inauguration with 65,000 participants, and Scout Mass Gymnastics (Semapur) joined by 41,337 people. Surabaya Branch Advisory Council Chairman, Eri Cahyadi, appreciated the event as proof of the Scouts' burning spirit.
A touching moment happened when thousands of children washed their parents' feet as a symbol of devotion. Eri stressed the importance of being devoted to parents so that children become pious, and that the parents' blessing is God's blessing. These values are in line with religious teachings that honor parents. Surabaya Scouts also plan to collaborate with the community through the Pancasila Village program to instill the spirit of Pancasila from an early age.
As a commitment to youth development, Surabaya Scouts will build facilities in the Jeruk area. This event is expected to be a momentum to fight negative things and lead the nation's buds to achieve their dreams, with the spirit 'I'm Proud to Be a Scout!'.
