Blessed Sacrifice Mission for Palestine Reaches Syrian Refugee Camps
Indonesia’s National Zakat Board (BAZNAS) handed out qurbani meat to around 6,700 Palestinian refugees in camps in Idlib province, Syria, during Eid al-Adha 1447 H/2026. This aid is a concrete show of solidarity from the Indonesian people towards the Palestinians who are struggling due to the prolonged conflict.
Distribution took place in Hazano (Qusaniyah Camp, Shariaa, Qadisiyah) and Sarmada (Sarmada Camp, Al-Omareen). The meat came from 200 sheep, distributed from May 27–29, 2026. BAZNAS Chairman H. Sodik Mudjahid said the program is a symbol of care and brotherhood, bringing joy to refugees amid hardship.
The Indonesian embassy in Damascus also helped monitor the distribution, despite having to travel over eight hours through rough terrain. Bayu Arif Ramadhan, in charge of social and cultural affairs at the embassy, appreciated the aid and hoped humanitarian support will continue. BAZNAS expressed gratitude for the trust of the Indonesian people in channeling qurbani, zakat, and charity for Palestinian refugees.
The Blessed Qurbani for Palestine program proves cross-border humanitarian solidarity, brings hope, and strengthens brotherhood for those affected by the crisis.
