BGN Clarification: No Students Expelled from School for Criticizing Free Nutritious Meal Program
The Central Java Regional National Nutrition Body (BGN) has clarified that no primary school students in Pemalang Regency were expelled from school due to criticism of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program. Central Java Regional Coordinator Reza Mahendra stated that the viral issue on social media stemmed from a misunderstanding about the program's implementation, which has now been resolved internally.
According to Reza, the problem arose from parents' differing understandings of the program's technical aspects, including portion sizes and budgeting, leading to miscommunication. He emphasized that the student in question remains actively enrolled, with no change to their educational status, and the school has provided clarification and support to the family.
The MBG program in Pemalang Regency continues to operate normally, having reached thousands of beneficiaries. BGN, alongside local Nutrition Service Units, is conducting evaluations to improve service quality and food distribution, with a commitment to ongoing oversight for better program targeting. This clarification was issued on Tuesday, May 5, 2026.
