Assalamu alaikum, friends - a short roundup of important events related to our ummah for October 15, 2025.
Volzhsky to host the First All‑Russian Interreligious Forum “VolgaForum”
On October 20–21 Volzhsky will become a platform for interreligious dialogue. The forum, dedicated to the theme “Islam as a factor of stability and homeland defense,” will bring together theologians, muftis, public figures, government representatives and scholars from more than 15 countries. Planned topics include discussions of Islamic values in strengthening peace and unity, preventing pseudo‑religious extremism through education, the role of Islamic ethics in forming legal culture, and the contribution of Muslim communities to social development. We hope the event will help strengthen cooperation and preserve spiritual traditions.
Meeting of the Mufti of Chuvashia with students - about knowledge and respect
At Chuvash State University the Mufti of Chuvashia, Ilyas khazrat Safiyanov, met with students from different countries. He reminded them that seeking knowledge is one of the most important duties of a Muslim, and that university years are a good time not only for study but also for building warm, respectful relations between people of different cultures and faiths. The mufti urged everyone to respect each other’s traditions and beliefs as the basis for peaceful coexistence. The meeting took place in a brotherly atmosphere; students asked questions about spiritual and moral values and the life of the Muslim community in Chuvashia.
Charitable aid in Penza region
Representatives of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Penza region distributed food supplies to imams and heads of local congregations as part of a charity drive, for further distribution among those in need. Aid has already been delivered to Kuznetsk and several rural settlements in the district.
Opening of the “Taskirya” mosque in Almetyevsk
A new mosque, “Taskirya,” opened in Almetyevsk - a two‑story brick building with two minarets, for 150–200 people. The mosque has a prayer hall, classrooms, an imam’s room, and a separate building for ablutions. The imam is Farit khazrat Khannanov, a graduate of the local madrasa. The mosque offers lessons on the basics of Islam for all ages and has modern facilities for the convenience of worshippers.
23rd Moscow International Quran Recitation Competition
On October 16 the Moscow Quran recitation competition starts - a major event in the spiritual life of the capital. This year the contest is held in partnership with the Mohammed bin Zayed University for the Humanities (UAE). Preliminary performances will take place October 16–17 in the conference hall of the Moscow Cathedral Mosque, free entry. The closing ceremony and festive program are scheduled for October 18, and there will be a staged spiritual performance. As usual, trips for umrah will be raffled for participants and guests.
“Amirhania” Spiritual and Educational Center opened in Chistopol
An educational center was opened in the historic building of the former women’s madrasa “Amirhania.” They teach Islam, advanced fiqh, Arabic, aqidah here, conduct ijazah sessions for Quran recitation, and hold scholarly meetings and conferences. The center is designed for about 100 students - teens, men and women. The opening was attended by the Mufti of Tatarstan, Kamil khazrat Samigullin: guests recited the Quran and made dua.
Samatov Readings in Chistopol
The annual Samatov Readings were held at the Nur mosque, dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the scholar Gabdulkhak khazrat Samatov. They discussed the role of imams in developing Islamic education and preserving the Tatar language and traditions. Participants visited the historic Muslim cemetery and at the sheikh’s grave recited ayat and made dua.
Escalation on the Pakistan–Afghanistan border
According to Pakistani state channel PTV, there were fresh shootings on the border between Pakistan and Afghanistan - the second such incident this week. Reports say fire was directed at border posts, and Pakistani forces struck back at positions on Afghan territory. We pray for peace and security in the region.
Rafah crossing reopened for humanitarian aid to Gaza
Israel has allowed the temporary opening of the Rafah crossing to deliver humanitarian aid via Egypt - media report plans to send hundreds of trucks with aid approved by international organizations and donors. The decision came after the transfer of several more bodies of hostages under the ceasefire agreement.

Reminder: Islam arose in the 7th century and has had a major influence on the history, culture and social development of many peoples. The word “Islam” in Arabic means submission to the will of Allah. Today the religion has more than a billion followers.
