Assalamu alaikum - in Yuzhno‑Sakhalinsk they discussed changes in Russian legislation for foreign workers
As-salamu alaykum. A meeting was held at the Islamic Center in Yuzhno‑Sakhalinsk with foreign nationals working in the Sakhalin region. With invited experts from the Ural association “Center for Ethno‑Confessional Studies, Prevention of Extremism and Counteraction to the Ideology of Terrorism” - Alexey Nikolaevich Starostin (Yekaterinburg) and Vadim Viktorovich Shiller (Kemerovo) - we discussed topics important to workers.
As part of an adaptation course developed by the Federal Agency for Nationalities Affairs of Russia (FADN), the specialists talked about current migration legislation and the major changes that took place in 2024–2025. They pointed out the need to follow rules of conduct, to respect traditional Russian spiritual and moral values, and to comply with anti‑extremism laws. The specialists also answered frequently asked questions: how not to end up in the “Registry of Controlled Persons,” how to register at a place of stay, arranging a patent, obtaining a temporary residence permit, a residence permit, and other practical matters.
The visiting participants expressed gratitude to the organizers - for many, this helped them get a free consultation and sort out the questions that worried them. The event was held with the support of the Government of the Sakhalin Region and the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Far East as part of the Central Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Russia.
A small reminder for everyone: Islam originated in the 7th century and has strongly influenced the history, culture, and social development of many peoples. In Arabic, “Islam” means submission to the will of Allah. Today this religion has more than a billion followers.
