Assalamu Alaikum - Heartbroken: Teen Killed and Families Left Homeless in Occupied Palestine
Assalamu Alaikum. I’m really saddened to share this. A 15-year-old Palestinian boy, Murad Fawzi Abu Seifen, was killed during an Israeli military raid in Ya’bad, west of Jenin. Reports say he was hit by four rounds and medics could not reach him in time; he bled to death before his body was taken. Since the offensive started in January, about 56 people in Jenin have been killed and over 200 wounded.
Also, Israeli forces demolished the homes of brothers Iyad and Ziad Houshieh in Qatana, occupied East Jerusalem, saying the buildings lacked permits. Each house was roughly 150 sq. meters and sheltered around 20 people, so roughly 50 people were left displaced by these demolitions. Families say the authorities had warned them about possible demolitions years ago.
Qatana and nearby Qubeiba have been under heavy operations, with authorities ordering removal of homes built without permits after attacks in Jerusalem last year. In one month, there were many demolition actions affecting homes and agricultural sites. In Jenin and its refugee camp alone, more than 600 homes - about a third of the camp - have reportedly been destroyed since January, displacing some 22,000 people.
