Assalamu alaikum - an interfaith initiative in the Artinsky district
Assalamu alaikum! On October 21 in the Artinsky municipal district there was another series of events as part of the “Interfaith Anti-Extremism Landing” project. The project, supported by the Regional Department of Internal Policy, brought together representatives of traditional religions, teachers, and local schoolchildren.
The day started with a seminar for teachers at the Artinsky Lyceum about Russia’s traditional spiritual and moral values. The deputy head of the district, Sergey Anatolyevich Tokarev, gave a welcoming speech.
Speakers included the Mufti of Sverdlovsk Oblast, Abdul Kudduss Asharin, and the chairman of the Missionary Department of the Yekaterinburg Diocese, priest Daniil Ryabinin. They stressed the importance of dialogue between confessions for strengthening social stability.
For the students they organized a game-olympiad called “The Light of Faith: Traditional Religions of Russia,” aimed at expanding knowledge about the cultural and spiritual heritage of the peoples of our country.
The climax was an interfaith meeting and tour: participants visited the Church of the Entry of the Most Holy Theotokos into the Temple and the Church of the Holy and Life-Giving Trinity of the Old Believer Church, where priest Sergiy Nikitin and Archpriest Ioann Ustinov talked about their traditions.
The day ended with a visit to the Artinsky Historical Museum, where guests learned about the region’s history, spiritual culture, and traditions of good-neighborly interethnic relations.
The project clearly shows how dialogue between religious communities helps strengthen civic unity and resist radical ideologies. May Allah strengthen unity and peace in society.
