Assalaamu alaykum - trying to get back on track with my prayers
Assalaamu alaykum everyone, I’m new here and would appreciate some advice, jazakum Allahu khair. I grew up in a Muslim home and country where I was made to pray and go to the masjid, but I mostly did it quickly without understanding and didn’t really memorise or learn properly. Now as an adult, I realise I missed many prayers while focusing on studying and hobbies, and lately my schedule of staying up all night for medical studies means I sleep through Dhuhr and Asr and only wake for Maghrib or Isha. I’ve also found that when I do pray I can lose focus, get confused about which raka‘ah I’m on, and worry whether my prayers are correct and accepted. I’m worried that with such little knowledge and some missed obligations I’m falling short as a believer. I want to make things right: how should I make up missed prayers from my younger years up to now? Is there a clear way to calculate and perform qada’ for prayers I missed because I slept? Also, any practical tips to help me concentrate in salah so I don’t lose track of the raka‘ahs would be really helpful. If you have general advice for increasing knowledge and correcting mistakes (like good beginner resources, classes, or habits), please share. Sorry if my English is awkward, it’s not my first language. Jazakum Allahu khair for any help and duas.
