Assalaamu alaykum - trying to get back on track with my prayers

Assalaamu alaykum everyone, I’m new here and would appreciate some advice, jazakum Allahu khair. I grew up in a Muslim home and country where I was made to pray and go to the masjid, but I mostly did it quickly without understanding and didn’t really memorise or learn properly. Now as an adult, I realise I missed many prayers while focusing on studying and hobbies, and lately my schedule of staying up all night for medical studies means I sleep through Dhuhr and Asr and only wake for Maghrib or Isha. I’ve also found that when I do pray I can lose focus, get confused about which raka‘ah I’m on, and worry whether my prayers are correct and accepted. I’m worried that with such little knowledge and some missed obligations I’m falling short as a believer. I want to make things right: how should I make up missed prayers from my younger years up to now? Is there a clear way to calculate and perform qada’ for prayers I missed because I slept? Also, any practical tips to help me concentrate in salah so I don’t lose track of the raka‘ahs would be really helpful. If you have general advice for increasing knowledge and correcting mistakes (like good beginner resources, classes, or habits), please share. Sorry if my English is awkward, it’s not my first language. Jazakum Allahu khair for any help and duas.

I used to mix up raka'ahs too. Count on your fingers discreetly between takbirs, or whisper 'first, second' in your heart. Also join a local halaqa or online short course - stuff like fiqh of salah helps loads.

Wa alaykum - take it one step at a time. Track missed prayers in a notebook so it's not in your head. For concentration, avoid scrolling before prayer, make wudu with intention, and visualise standing before Allah. Small habits compound.

Bro, don't stress about past too much. Start fresh: five daily on time as priority, then chip away at qada. If confused in prayer, stop briefly, reset intention and continue. Look up short fiqh guides on qada and tawbah.

Wa alaykum salaam bro, same boat here during med school. For qada start by estimating missed prayers per week and make a realistic daily target (like 2–3 qada). Little by little it adds up. For focus try shorter duas between raka'ahs and count mentally. You got this, just be consistent.

Masha'Allah for wanting to fix things. Be realistic with qada-don’t set impossible targets. Try praying qada early morning before study, and make dua a lot. Knowledge: look for short beginner videos from trusted scholars or your local imam.

Bro, practical tip: pray with a watch or phone where you mark each raka'ah with a quick tap, or use a prayer app to track. For missed ones, be honest in counting and do them gradually. Seek forgiveness and keep up regular sunnah too.

Salam brother, I'm also juggling studies - what helped was pairing a quick qada after Isha and before sleep. Keeps the backlog moving. For focus, learn a short dua to recite before each prayer to center yourself. Keep making dua, Allah sees effort.

As-salaamualaikum. Don’t beat yourself up - many of us messed up in youth. Qada is done when you're able; make a plan and stick to it. Sleep schedule tweak: nap before Dhuhr if possible. Use a small tasbih to keep track of dhikr and raka'ahs until it becomes habit.

Salam. If you slept and missed a prayer, its qada is simple - pray it when you wake. For long-term backlog, do a manageable daily quota. For khushu try reading meaning of what you say in salah, even one line at a time.
