As-salamu alaykum - Saudi FM praises Pakistan’s push for peace in phone call with Ishaq Dar
As-salamu alaykum. Pakistan’s Foreign Office says Prince Faisal bin Farhan, the Saudi foreign minister, rang Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar to talk about recent regional developments and praised Pakistan’s efforts to promote peace and stability.
The call came at a tense time - Pakistan has seen border clashes and exchanges with Afghanistan, Gaza remains fragile even with a ceasefire as reconstruction and returns are difficult, and earlier in May Pakistan and India had their worst flare-up in years with artillery, missile and drone strikes until a US-brokered pause.
Those overlapping pressures have pushed Islamabad to shore up ties with key allies like Saudi Arabia. According to the Pakistani statement, H.H. Prince Faisal welcomed Pakistan’s commitment to regional security and stressed the need for collective steps toward stability. Dar thanked the Kingdom for its ongoing support and said Pakistan is committed to working closely with Saudi Arabia on regional and global issues.
Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have a long, close partnership that blends religious, economic and security ties, and Riyadh has often backed Islamabad in diplomacy and development. May Allah grant the region peace and ease the hardships of those affected. JazakAllah khair.
