As-salamu alaykum, asking for dua as I prepare to discuss faith respectfully today
Assalamu alaykum everyone. My father has arranged for me to have a respectful conversation about faith with a religious scholar today, and I kindly ask for your dua that Allah guides our discussion and opens hearts to truth. Here are some points I plan to reflect on: - In the scriptures, it's written that God is not human and does not change His nature or promises. - There appear to be passages where figures refer to themselves as 'begotten' while also pointing to prophecies of future messengers. - Some verses describe a prophet being raised among the descendants of Ibrahim, with references to places like Kedar. - Certain texts address women's roles in ways that differ from Islamic teachings on respect and dignity. - There are instructions about modest dress that seem similar to hijab but aren't practiced the same way. - Multiple passages distinguish between God and messengers, emphasizing God's oneness. - Some verses depict actions that raise questions about consistency with divine mercy. - There are statements where messengers explicitly say they aren't 'good' in the absolute sense-only God is. - If God doesn't change, how can divine nature become human? - Verses reiterate that God is not a man and doesn't have human limitations. - Even in moments of correction, restraint is emphasized in our tradition. - Knowledge of the unseen is solely with Allah, as repeatedly affirmed. - God is described as eternal, unseen, and unlike creation. - God cannot be tempted, while humans-including prophets-can be tested. - Messengers deliver what's revealed to them; they don't speak on their own. - Scriptures also state that each soul is responsible for its own deeds. I also wonder why some traditions elevate saints when only Allah knows what’s truly in hearts. May Allah make this dialogue a means of clarity and sincerity. Jazakum Allahu khayran for your prayers.
