Allah Knows the Good You Do - The Story of the Follower Rabīʿ

Rabīʿ ibn Khuthaym said to his family, 'Prepare some khabīṣ (a sweet dish) for me.' They did so. Then he invited a man of unsound mind and began feeding him with his own hand, placing the morsel in his mouth while the man's saliva dripped. His family said to him, 'You've caused us hardship! We prepared the food for you, then you fed it to this man who doesn't even know what he's eating!' Rabīʿ replied, 'But Allah knows.'
