Air travel between Saudi Arabia and Russia is expanding - assalamu alaikum
Assalamu alaikum. Saudi budget carrier Flynas plans to increase the number of direct flights to Russia starting next year - they’ll open new regular routes and raise the frequency to Moscow, the airline’s CEO Bander Almohanna said.
He said Flynas planes will start flying from Riyadh to two more Russian cities - St. Petersburg and Sochi. They want to raise weekly flights to the Russian capital from three to seven.
The airline has been operating Riyadh–Moscow flights since August this year, and at the end of December flights to Moscow will also begin from Jeddah.
Almohanna noted that Russia is interesting for tourists not only in summer but also in winter, and that gives good opportunities for carriers: “Some destinations are in demand only in summer, some only in winter. Russia has both, and in each season you feel like you’re in a different country.”
Earlier Russia made a principled decision to abolish visas for Saudi Arabian citizens, which will make travel even easier for those who want to visit the country.
Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia continues a large-scale reconstruction of Mecca as part of the national “Vision 2030” program, aimed at diversifying the economy and developing infrastructure, healthcare, education and tourism.
Peace and blessings. As air links grow, it’ll be more convenient to plan trips for business or pilgrimage, and also to get to know Russia’s culture and nature.
