Ahead of Eid al-Adha, Police and Livestock Agency Tighten Livestock Surveillance at Lamongan-Jombang Border
As Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijri inches closer, Lamongan Police together with the Lamongan Livestock and Animal Health Agency have beefed up monitoring of livestock traffic at the Lamongan-Jombang border, right in Ganggangtingan Village, Ngimbang District, on Sunday (17/5). This joint operation involved Ngimbang Police personnel, the relevant agency, and other offices to curb the spread of infectious diseases among animals.
The joint team inspected vehicles carrying livestock, focusing on cattle, goats, sheep, and other types. Checks covered documents, physical condition, and animal health to prevent diseases like Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD) and Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD). They also reminded farmers and drivers to keep pens clean and report any signs of illness immediately.
From the monitoring, no animals showed signs of infectious disease, and the situation was deemed safe. Ngimbang Police Chief Iptu I Wayan Sumantra, through Lamongan Police Public Relations Officer Ipda M Hamzaid, said the surveillance is a preventive step to protect farmers and animal health ahead of Eid al-Adha.
Authorities urge all farmers and livestock transport drivers to always look after their animals' health and follow the inspection rules. Hopefully, this effort will stop diseases from entering or spreading in the Lamongan area.
