After a Sin: Will You Respond Like Adam or Like Iblis?
As-salamu alaykum. We all mess up-slipping is part of being human. What really matters isn’t the mistake itself but how we act afterward. Think about the contrast between Adam (alayhis-salam) and Iblis. Iblis disobeyed from arrogance. He would not accept responsibility, he blamed Allah and made excuses, and he never sincerely asked for forgiveness. His pride kept his heart closed. Adam slipped because of human weakness and temptation, but when he realized it he didn’t argue or delay. He immediately turned to Allah, admitted his wrongdoing, and asked for mercy. That humility opened the door to forgiveness. The point is not that one sinned and the other didn’t, but how they reacted. Putting off repentance, making excuses, blaming others, or saying “I’ll repent later” is following Iblis’s path and lets the heart harden. Turning back straightaway, admitting your fault, and asking Allah with a humble heart follows Adam’s example and brings mercy before the heart is sealed. So when you fall, don’t wait-raise your hands, own your mistake, and seek Allah’s forgiveness.
